The ones that make it all happen!

ANTHONY J. GIORDANO
FOUNDER & CEO
Biologist with an emphasis in conservation and wildlife ecologist with more than 20 years of experience working in various countries around the world. He has a B.Sc. double. from Long Island University at Southampton College in Biology (Zoology) and Environmental Sciences (Biology). He received his M.Sc. in conservation biology and applied ecology from the University of Maryland at Frostburg State.
While at Texas Tech pursuing his Ph.D. in wildlife science and management, he received a Fulbright scholarship for his jaguar conservation work in the American Gran Chaco. His research at Tech as a Panthera Kaplan Scholar led to the first formal scientific investigation of the jaguar in Paraguay and the creation of the Chaco Jaguar Conservation Project, with a long-term transboundary conservation outlook dedicated to resolving the human-jaguar conflict, through along with conducting ecological research and surveys on jaguars, in the vast landscape of the Gran Chaco.

DIEGO G. GIMENEZ

He is a biologist from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of the National University of Asunción, with experience coordinating conservation projects, writing management plans and leading work teams. He is the coordinator of the Jaguarete Conservation Program in the Chaco and his management takes the program to different regions of the country, promoting the implementation of best livestock practices that promote coexistence between producers and the wildlife present on their farms, the strengthening of wild areas protected both public and private, and the training of university students through experiences in the field and cabinet. To date, it has consolidated key alliances through institutional agreements with government entities, academia, and civil society organizations for the conservation of habitats and the biodiversity that inhabit them. He is editor and co-author of the Panthera onca Management Plan 2017-2027 and the Red Book of Mammals: endangered species. Diego is a founding member of the Paraguayan Association of Mammalogy, head of the Board of Directors of the Fauna & Vida Foundation and a member of the Wild Felid Association.



MARCELO A. MARECO

Agronomist graduated from the San Carlos University, he has experience working on livestock production farms in the Chaco. He joined the Jaguarete Conservation Program in the Chaco as a volunteer from 2018 to 2020 where he actively participated in all activities related to the Program. Since joining the permanent staff of the Program, he has collaborated in the training of university students through experiences in the field and with advice on issues related to sustainable production, good farming practices and conflict mitigation between cattle and big cats, narrowing the gap between production and conservation of biodiversity in the farms with which we collaborate. He took courses, workshops and seminars such as a basic workshop on "Training in the Management of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and its application to the Geographic Information System (GIS)", course on "Management of native forests with integrated livestock", seminar "The dimensions of the human conflict - wildlife", course on "Management of livestock establishments", course on "Update on environmental law", course on "Environmental impact assessment and environmental services", course on "Introduction to good livestock practices ” and course “Finance for Sustainable Livestock”.
